UNINSURED Reynolds’ Erratic Actions Put Taxpayers at Risk, Leaving City Vulnerable

In November 2018, I sent a private communication to the City Council explaining the unacceptable risk the Comptroller has inflicted on the City by not being insured. Insurance is not just required by the City Charter unless it is waived by the City Council, it’s common sense. Insurance protects the taxpayers from errors and omissions by the City Comptroller, which under the current situation with “Renegade Reynolds,” is not just highly likely but practically inevitable after her husband, Carl Reynolds, flipped the bird to city employees who were seeking to see the Comptroller.

I’m making this private communication public today because recently our Moody’s Credit rating was removed… The risk and potential liability to the taxpayers from Comptroller Reynolds’ clear incompetence is higher than its ever been, and the City Council is allowing this to continue.

It is no secret that the City of Mount Vernon asked Governor Andrew Cuomo and State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli to remove Reynolds from office. Read the newly revealed letter to the City Council below urging them to do their job and hold her accountable! Click here to see the section of the City Charter requiring the City Council to decide on holding the City Comptroller accountable by being insured.

If they decide that taxpayers should be protected and the Comptroller must have insurance, then the Comptroller will be required to vacate office immediately.
