Happy Thanksgiving from Mayor Richard Thomas
Dear Mount Vernon Friends and Family -
Thanksgiving is a time to gather and be grateful. It’s a time to hug our loved ones, fellowship with our friends and family, and look out for those in need. As we join together to give thanks, I want to ask all in Mount Vernon to use this day to reflect on our city, to put aside our differences, and unite as one Mount Vernon family.
This is a time to cherish and celebrate our values as a community — peace, health and happiness, family and friendship.
We are especially mindful of the faith and spiritual values that are deeply woven into the fabric of our community and ingrained even deeper in the hearts of each and every one of us. I encourage all of us to take time over this holiday weekend to help those in need and be of service to one another.
Sometimes it can be easy to lets politics dominate, to let noise and vitriol take precedence over community and togetherness. But this holiday, let’s focus on what makes Mount Vernon magnificent. Mount Vernon is safer than ever, property values are rising, and our economy is one of the fastest growing in the state.
I’m excited about the direction Mount Vernon is taking. This thanksgiving, I know I will be saying a special thank you for the privilege of serving as your Mayor.
Have a safe and blessed holiday season. Enjoy and cherish the time with your loved ones. And -.don’t forget — if you choose to partake in Black Friday….remember to Shop Local!
May God Bless you and your families on Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays from my family to yours.
Respectfully,
Mayor Richard Thomas
