March with Mount Vernon in the 2018 Memorial Day Parade

The City of Mt. Vernon is anticipating a historically large crowd at the 2018 Memorial Day Parade, Monday, May 28, 2018 @ 8:30am. The City’s Veterans Service Agency is actively seeking organizations, schools, businesses, churches, and civic/recreational organizations to participate in the parade procession.

There is no fee for registration and this is an excellent advertisement opportunity for your business, school, or organization to utilize marchers, performers, decorated vehicles, and floats to advertise to thousands of onlookers, while displaying your support for our Nation’s military.

Who? Any business, school, or organization that wishes to participate, regardless of residency in the City limits of Mt. Vernon. All are welcome!

What? Your business, school, or organization, can submit a performance act, decorated float, marchers, or decorated vehicles, to participate in the processional. Marchers alongside vehicles and floats can pass candy and promotional items to spectators.

So, you want to participate, but don’t have a band or act…. you can sponsor one! The City can create a custom banner highlighting your sponsorship of a band, group, or act and your contribution will be highlighted at the Grandstand and Memorial Day Address following the Parade. Best of all, it’s a tax-deductible donation!

In Addition, the City of Mount Vernon is actively seeking volunteers to help coordinate the planned dynamic display of patriotism, music, and entertainment.

In Advance: Planning, recruiting businesses and organizations, establishing the order of participants, marshal training.

Day of Event: Parade Marshals, logistical organizers, decorations, costumed participants (adult and youth), youth escorts, marchers, participant dispersion. If there is something else you would like to contribute, please mention it in your registration.

What else? Discriminatory or hateful groups are prohibited. Vulgar and obscene music and dances are prohibited and will be left to the sole discretion of the Parade Committee. The parade will take place rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to make efforts to protect musical instruments, costumes, and vehicles. The City of Mt. Vernon is not responsible for any damage caused by weather.
