A key factor in our efforts to advance the 21st-century policing model in Mount Vernon is to engage our youth. On Thursday, March 30, 2018, Mayor Thomas joined our school resource officers and the MVPD’s top brass in honoring our Holmes School and Benjamin Turner D.A.R.E. graduates. This program brought back by the Thomas administration after a decade of inactivity is designed to not only steer children away from the harmful effects of substance abuse but to instill in them the determination to think for themselves.
Investing in programs like D.A.R.E. are critical to ensuring the future of Mount Vernon for generations to come.
