Mayor Thomas Delivers 2018 State of the City Address

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, Mayor Richard Thomas delivered his 2018 State of the City Address to the City Council members in their chambers. The speech covered what the the mayor outlined as the five C’s:

• Community encompasses all the actions we take to enhance the quality of life within our city.
• Competence focuses on delivering services that are affordable, responsive and effective.
• Communication keeps the city informed and engaged.
• Compassion is never forgetting that the business of government is raising people up, especially when they are most in need.
• Capital covers the ideas and resources we use to invest in the future.

Mayor Thomas said, “ These five navigational stars will keep us focused on what is most important to the people of Mount Vernon … and that’s why we are here — to give the people of Mount Vernon the city they want, the city they deserve and the city they can be proud of everyday.”
