Mayor Thomas joins Mayors and Policy Leaders at Tech Convening in San Francisco

Earlier this week, Mayor Thomas joined mayors and policy leaders from across the country in a tech convening in San Francisco. The event, an effort by the National League of Cities, convene stakeholders to discuss new ways to bring back jobs in the 21st century economy and ways to use technology to address common city issues such as parking and congestion.

Mayor Thomas also met with executives from Google, Zoox, and other tech firms as well as venture capital firms to discuss alignments between the Mount Vernon Industrial Development Agency’s Beehive initiative and national tech initiatives. The IDA’s strategy of investing in Mount Vernon entrepreneuers as well as diversifying its project portfolio has been paying off and it’s a practice utilized by major investment firms such Andreesson Horowtiz.
