Outdoor Fitness Equipment is on the Way to Hartley Park
On Tuesday, the Board of Estimate and Contract voted unanimously for Mayor Richard Thomas and the Department of Recreation to purchase $100,000 worth of outdoor fitness equipment form National Fitness Campaign, LLC. The equipment, which includes a wide variety of body weight training equipment, agility dots, and a progressive training wall, will give Mount Vernon residents a new way to work out in The City of Mount Vernon. Joggers who normally trek right through Hartley Park will be able to stop and get in a quick exercise.
The Goal of this installation as well as joining the 2018 National Fitness Campaign is to promote health and wellness in the community. The total cost of the equipment is $90,000, with $10,000 being paid for by a grant from National Fitness Campaign, LLC. The installation of Mount Vernon’s first ever fitness park is a big leap forward towards creating a healthier Mount Vernon.
