STATEMENT: 9/27/17: Scout Field and Mount Vernon’s Right to Our Land

The people of Mount Vernon wholeheartedly object to Scout Field being developed by Eastchester and the city is prepared to take legal action to defend our land. Scout Field is physically located in the City of Mount Vernon and the contract between the city and the County guarantees us access. Open parkland is at a premium in Mount Vernon and our residents deserve equitable access to this precious recreational space. We will continue to share our space not cede it nor allow an annexation to occur. Eastchester has an opportunity to partner with us and my door is open to work with them after they apologize for disrespecting Mount Vernon.
