Crime rates in the City of Mount Vernon are down in four key categories compared to the same weekly period in 2017.
For the week of March 26th to April 1st, crime is down in four key category: Robbery (~100% decline), Assault (~100% decline), Aggravated Assault (~33% decline), and Grand Larceny Auto (~33% decline). Overall, crime in 2017 was down over 8.5% from before the Mayor took office in 2015 and over 23% from 2012. These stats show how hard our dedicated policemen and women are working despite being underfunded and understaffed, as the department is continuing to do more with less.
According to Westchester County crime statistics, violent crime in Mount Vernon for 2017 is down more than 36% over 2016.
The Thomas Administration will continue its commitment to transparency by releasing these weekly crime statistics as they become available.
