Crime rates in the City of Mount Vernon are down over 61% compared to the same weekly period in 2017.

For the week of March 5th to March 11th, crime is down over 61% and is significantly lower in five key categories: Rape (~100% decline), Aggravated Assault (~40% decline), Burglary (~67% decline), Grand Larceny (~88% decline), and Grand Larceny Auto (~100% decline). Overall, crime in 2017 was down over 8.5% from before the Mayor took office in 2015 and over 23% from 2012. A detailed synopsis of the weekly crime statistics is below (along with historical comparables dating back to 2011)

These stats show how hard our dedicated policemen and women are working despite being underfunded and understaffed as the department is continuing to do more with less.

The Thomas Administration will continue its commitment to transparency by releasing these weekly crime statistics as they become available.
